Maria Slade-Coombs, of Rose Nails by Maria Slade – Isle of Wight Nail Artist and Educator, has smashed the nail competition scene this year by winning three prestigious accolades within the beauty sector.
Maria’s home based salon, that has been running for six years, focuses on client nail health, helping clients build their own long natural nails, and creating miniature hand painted works of art.
Firstly, winning fifth place in the UK for Gel Nail Technician of the year at the highly coveted Scratch Stars Awards.
Maria said,
“The whole Scratch stars process was incredible, from travelling to London to compete at the London College of Beauty Therapy against the top nail artists in the industry, to the phenomenal awards show put on by Scratch Magazine. It was fantastic to be a part of.”
Secondly, snatching up Bronze place in the UK for both Gel Nail Technician of the year 2024 and Creative Artist of the Year 2024, with the British Hair and Beauty Awards.
Slade-Coombs: The creative and artistic side of nails is where my passion really shines
These awards had a record number of applications this year, with only the best of the best being shortlisted for judging.
“I was so proud to hear I had won bronze place in these awards! Not only to win a second Gel Nail Technician of the year award for 2024, but to win Creative Artist of the Year was what really got me.
“This competition is not only against other nail artists, but talented hair dressers, make up artists and other members of the beauty section too.
“The creative and artistic side of nails is where my passion really shines, so to win bronze in the UK for this award was incredible.”
The judging for these competitions work to a strict criteria that look at the business as a whole and take into consideration the artistry, motivation, determination, passion, professionalism and skill, client service, understanding the market, and impact and integrity.
