Update 12:49
Wightlink contacted OnTheWight with an update – The lorry has now been removed and things are getting back to normal.
The lorry’s air brakes had locked, making the vehicle immovable.
Wightlink paid for taxis
Wightlink had taxied foot passengers up to the International terminal, so they could board the diverted ferry. Those in vehicles were also redirected.
The 10:30am Wight Sun sailing that had the stuck lorry on it was an extra sailing put on by Wightlink. Prior to that a large number of static caravans had been transported to the Island, using the normal capacity.
