A cat that went missing from Ventnor four years ago has been returned to his owner, Bonnie Orchard.
There was jubilation and plenty of tears in the Orchard household after their beloved Merlin was reunited with them yesterday.
Bonnie shared the good news on the hugely active (and very effective) Lost Pets IOW Facebook group. She said,
“Today is the best day of my life. Our cat Merlin has come home after four years. Thank you so much to the kind person who contacted Cat Protection and thank you to all the Lost Pets team and members and massive thank you to Cat Protection. Never give up I didn’t best day ever!”
The power of social media
Merlin, who is now 11 years old, was found in Bembridge by Polly Wright. She posted a picture of Merlin on the Lost Pets Facebook group and Bonnie immediately recognised him. He’d been taken into Cat Protection in Ryde where Bonnie picked him up from.
After Bonnie posted to the Facebook group, she had over 130 comments and 540+ likes from cat-lovers congratulating all involved with the reunion.
“Like he’s never been away”
Later in the evening Bonnie said,
“He’s sat on the couch like he’s never been away.”
What a great story!
