Around 200 people turned out in Niton on Friday evening to enjoy a fish and chip supper and raise funds for the Lottie Rann Trust at the same time.
Thanks to the hard work and generosity of the Jolly Fryer team, Andy, Caroline and Chrissie, who donated the evening’s entire proceeds to the trust, Lottie’s family are hopeful that the 11-year-old meningitis victim will be able to come home soon.
Very well supported
The Jolly Fryer parked in their usual Friday evening spot in the youth club car park, but the queues were soon snaking out of the gate. Members of Lottie’s family served hot drinks to those waiting in the cold.
“They’ve been just marvellous”
Lottie’s grandmother, Maureen, and brother, Harry, were delighted at the turnout to support Lottie. Maureen reckoned that at least 150 people had been served by 7.15 pm, with others still queuing. “It’s wonderful, ” she said. “It all helps to bring Lottie home as soon as possible. And I can’t thank Andy, Caroline and Chrissie enough – they’ve worked so hard, they’ve been just marvellous.”
Lottie is paralysed from the neck down, after being struck down with Meningitis for the second time. She is currently at a children’s rehabilitation unit in Surrey. Her parents, David and Christine, desperately want to bring her back home to be with her family in Priory Walk, Niton, but their bungalow needs to be adapted first.
£30,000 needed
Some funding has been secured from the local authority and the Meningitis Trust, but the family needs to find about another £30,000 to fully adapt the property.
The amount raised at Friday’s Lottie Rann fish and chips benefit night in Niton, courtesy of the Jolly Fryer, was ‘around £2,000’.
