Late on Wednesday night the Environment Agency issued a Flood Alert for the Eastern Yar.
They advise residents to ‘Be prepared’ as flooding is possible for the Eastern Yar and tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge.
The warning reads:
Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
The warning message was automatically issued (rather than through human interaction during industrial action) based on rising river or tidal levels. Environment Agency Flood Warning Officers set the river or tidal levels that triggered the message.
