Thanks to Rebecca for sending through this review of Lucid On The Lawn event that took place last month. We couldn’t make it along ourselves, so glad to hear it went well. Ed
On Monday 29th August Island favourites, Lucid, played at Ryleston Gardens, Shanklin, to raise money for Brakens Dog Rescue.
Over 1,000 people gathered on the grass with their blankets and picnics (most enjoying a few glasses of wine) to watch the concert which took place from 3pm – 5pm.
Another return to Ryleston Gardens
This was Lucid’s fourth performance at Ryleston Gardens, each time raising money for a different charity.
Lucid have been extremely busy lately, touring France and Spain, with special performances at the Isle of Wight Festival, Cowes week, Chale Show and the Garlic Festival.
The Last time I saw Lucid
Was at Southampton University for the finals of Red Hot Talent, the five-some Folk/indie band blew everyone away!
Coming a very well deserved 1st place, the prize being a chance to play at the 2010 Isle of Wight Festival. Originally, I had attended to support another band, so I probably didn’t give them as much praise as they deserved so it was nice to hear them again.
The music was enjoyed by all ages
Lucid played an arrangement of folk, country, pop and chart music, twin sisters Sunny and Blue amazingly covered Rihanna’s song Russian Roulette, which got the crowd cheering and singing along. The musical delights ended with a Country menially which included some fantastic violin playing from Nik Potts.
Tea and deep fried goodness was served from marquees throughout the event, with all proceeds going to charity.
An amazing free concert which can be enjoyed by all the family, a perfect way to end a bank holiday weekend!
