Immediate past master of the lodge, Mr Bob Stay, joined other lodge representatives to hand over £2,585 to the Hospice on Thursday (Dec 11). Mr Stay also handed over a similar amount to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
The money had been raised in the year of Mr Stay’s tenure as Master of Osborne Lodge through events including quiz, racing and ladies’ nights. Mr Stay handed the cheque over at the Hospice’s John Cheverton Centre named after local businessman John Cheverton with who Mr Stay previously worked.
Mr Stay said:
“The Earl Mountbatten Hospice is a place that touches most people on the Island at some point. I have had friends and relatives come here and the care they received was absolutely first class.
“We have had a particularly good year of fundraising and we are delighted to be able to support two charities that do so much good work for so many people.”
Katie Radburn, corporate and major donor fundraiser at the Hospice, joined senior Hospice physiotherapist Rosemary Bohn in receiving the cheque from Mr Stay.
Katie said: “The Hospice has always had tremendous support from the Island’s Masonic lodges. Their contribution is absolutely vital in our aim of providing the very best care for Island patients with life-shortening illnesses.
“The amount we have received from Osborne is really fantastic and we are all extremely grateful for their hard work and generosity.”
Island Freemasons are also big supporters of the Hospice’s annual calendar, the 2015 version of which, featuring a collection of beautiful Island images, is available at all Hospice shops and at outlets across the Island.
