Thanks to Penny for sharing details of this year’s Yellow Well Day celebrations. Ed
Come and join the fun on Saturday 30th April at Cowes Lifeboat Station, Watch House Lane between 10am and 4pm. Free entry, donations welcomed.
On the Parade there will be a chance to see and talk to various organisation involved in search and rescue, from voluntary to statutory. Lots of equipment to see and get close to. This is of course if they are not needed for an emergency on the day!
Also on the Parade there will be some activities involving wellies, ropes and music. Come down to find out more.
Inside the station
In the station our volunteers will be on hand to show you around the boat house and tell you all about Sheena Louise, our Atlantic 85 Inshore Lifeboat. Crew will be present to talk about the shouts our station has been tasked to.
They might even be in the boat waiting to have a wet sponge thrown at them, could you ‘miss’ that opportunity? Tea, Coffee and other refreshments will be available plus a bottle tombola. What could the contents of YOUR bottle be? Displays around the station will give you information on how to keep safe when on or near water.
Lots of kids to do
A children’s activity area will be available for parents and carers to help their children dress up in lifeboat kit, spot the dangers and a colouring competition will be running with prizes awarded at various times through the day.
A boat house trail will help all explore and learn about the station.
Stop for lunch
Murrays Seafood Restaurant in Cowes High Street will be selling light lunches in aid of this Yellow Welly Day, so pop in there for a scrummy luncheon.
The RNLI shop on the corner of Watch House Lane and the High Street will be open, so call in there for souvenirs of your day with the RNLI.
Any new information will be posted on our station Website.
