Man charged with a number of violent offences on the Isle of Wight

An Isle of Wight man has been charged with a number of violent offences.

The 34-year-old man, of Queens Road in Shanklin, was charged over the weekend with the following:

  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm – relating to an incident on 9th June this year where it’s alleged he assaulted a woman known to him on a bus en route to East Cowes, resulting in the woman suffering a chipped tooth.
  • Assault by beating – it’s alleged he assaulted a woman at an address in Queen’s Road, Shanklin, on 12th May this year.
  • Criminal damage on 12th May this year, relating to a mobile phone.
  • Four counts of assaulting an emergency worker, namely police officers, on Queen’s Road, Shanklin on 12th May this year.

The man was remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 11th June.

At the hearing, he was remanded further and will next appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 11th July.
