Police are issuing a CCTV still of a man suspected of assaulting another man in Newport last week.
Around 1.15am, Saturday, 21 February, the victim, a 22-year-old man, was seen to expose himself and urinate in the street on the High Street near Yates’s.
A second man appears to have taken offence and hit the man around the head several times before leaving the scene.
The offender is described as in his late teens or early twenties, wearing a black jacket with a hood with grey round it, possibly with a grey hooded top underneath. He wore brown trainers and dark coloured, skinny jeans.
DC Mark Radford said:
“The aggrieved was intoxicated after a night out in Newport. He was approached by a man who was with a small group of people. It looks like this man took offence and pushed the victim to the floor and repeatedly punched him. The attacker was eventually dragged away by the group he was with.
“I’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or recognises the description of the suspect or the man in the CCTV still.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Radford at Newport police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
