Following our article last week reporting Cllr David Pugh’s plans to reorganise the Cabinet to include an extra member, we hear today that he has gone through with the delegated decision.
We expect that given the decision, Cllr Roger Mazillius will be welcomed in to the Cabinet at the next meeting on 1st June.
Extra member, extra cost
The increase in the number of Cabinet member will mean a rise in the costs too.
According to the decision notice, “The creation of an additional Cabinet post will attract a Special Responsibility Allowance of £11,854 per annum”.
The paperwork also states that although this figure is not available in the current budget allocation, it will be “met from savings achieved within the overall budget for Resources”.
New title for Pugh
As well as the changes to some of the responsibilities of Cabinet members, Cllr Pugh will continue to retain overall responsibility for governance and school improvement with an additional title of “Cabinet Member for Governance and School Improvement”.
