Joining the dots between Afrobeat, Ska, Reggae, Jazz, Folk, Gospel and Blues, The World Village Project brings the second MondoMix Music Festival to Calbourne Mill between 3rd-5th June 2016.
Set up in 2015 with Arts Council funding and sponsored by Red Funnel Ferries the project supports and promotes a whole array of diverse and original live music and the talented musicians that create it.
One of the organisers Noah Priddle told OnTheWight,
“What we’re really all about is bringing new, high quality and exciting street-level live music to a new and wider audience. That’s why we got public funding last year.
“The kind of great music most people on the Island do not know is happening, because it remains well below the radar of the larger festival attending audience.
“People don’t attend the MondoMix because they recognise names on a poster, but they certainly return when they experience the musicianship and pure excitement of what’s on offer.
“This is a live music festival, with a unique lineup of world-influenced bands and DJs and we want people to rediscover the excitement of up close and friendly live performance.”
