Thanks to Shania for sending through this appeal for players for the Rew Valley Youth Football Club. In her own words. Ed
Have any of you parents out there got any kids in the above age group who haven’t been bitten by the football bug yet?
If so you need Rew Valley Youth FC and they need you!
Owing to a rather astonishing movement of players to other teams, the logic of which defies me, we are now looking for some new players for these successful teams.
Hampshire FA Fair Play award winner
Rew Valley YFC is a very well run, friendly and competitive club that last year won the Hampshire FA fair play award which is awarded by secret scouts that attend the matches not just on the Isle Of Wight but across the whole of Hampshire.
This award takes in parent’s behaviour on the touchline and also the behaviour of players and managers of the club. What an outstanding achievement this is for a football club on the little old South coast of the Isle Of Wight.
Boys and girls needed
So to cut to the chase, we need more players both boys and girls in current years 6 and 7 at school, for these teams to carry on the good work of this football club.
So many people young and old moan about the youth of today and there’s nothing for youngsters to do, well there is, if you support things so anyone who is interested if they could contact Simon Wearing, the club chairman on 07971427621.
Youth football needs your support
Make no mistake, these teams need all the support they can get otherwise not only are the teams under threat, the whole youth football on the Isle Of Wight is under threat of becoming like the premiership with the league only having two or three teams that are likely to win the league in a season which won’t be good for Island football.
This letter is written with the knowledge of Rew Valley Youth Football club committee, but is not necessarily their own views.
