Thanks to Wayne for this latest report from the Isle of Wight Motorcycle Club. Ed
Stuart Gummer took the honours in the Clubman class with a convincing win in the latest summer series at Lee Copse, Bouldnor. Friendly rival Andy Scott-Jackson finished in second place and Geoff Taylor put in a great performance finishing in third, this being Geoff’s first attempt at the harder route.
The Novice class was narrowly won by Brian Brockwell with Paul Kent in second, just a single mark separated these two! Wayne Brodie finished a distant third – no excuses! Simon Newnham handled sections with comparable ease and cruised to victory in the Twin Shock class. Nick Symes was going well until mechanical problems with his bike forced him to retire.
Young riders
The Youth Beginner class was headed up by Jacob Furnell, who just did enough to fight off a determined effort from Harvey Grieve, just three marks between these two. Harrison Crickmore is definitely getting to grips with his larger wheeled bike – may not be long before he moves up a route?
Alfie Haydon meanwhile put in a brilliant effort on the E route to earn another ten Championship points, finishing with the lowest score of the day – well done Alfie, keep up the good work.
Thanks
The Club would like to thank them for the use of this brilliant venue. I would like to thank Simon Newnham for setting six tight & technical sections which tested all of us. Thanks also go to Louise, Ross Haydon & Richard Crickmore for setting the beginner routes – good effort from all of you.
The next round will be held on Sunday the 19th of July. Please check the website for the venue details – as it will be updated as soon as possible.
