Ahead of the autumn budget today (30th October 2024) the Chief Executive Officer for Mountbatten, the Island’s only hospice and lead provider of palliative care to the Island community has warned of the crucial need for support from the Government.
Nigel Hartley MBE told OnTheWight,
“We sincerely hope the budget addresses the issue of funding for hospice care.
“Mountbatten provides critical core NHS services. Funding from the NHS should acknowledge and support this.
“A one-off cash injection for hospices is needed from the government, followed quickly by an appropriate and ongoing funding agreement from local NHS Integrated Care Boards.”
