The new shop located at 23 Crocker Street, Newport, PO30 5GA replaces the previously located Pyle Street venue and is set to be a valuable addition to the community.
The shop is well stocked and offers a wide range of goods spread across two spacious floors – complete with a few customer parking spaces.
What to expect
From furniture and accessories to home goods and unique finds, there’s something for everyone. Ability Dogs 4 Young People are always delighted to accept donations, and with help from their dedicated team of friendly staff and volunteers are ready and willing to assist.
For added convenience, they offer a collection service for donated items from anywhere on the Island, making it easier than ever to support their cause.
How to make donations
Should you wish to make a donation, please call the Charity Shop on (01983) 214056. The Charity urges Islanders to know that they also readily accept plastic milk bottle tops, textiles and books suited for recycling and much, much more – all of which can raise vital funds.
The Charity financially supports each Ability Dog for life and with continual expansion, funds and donations are more important than ever.
Court: Charity shop funds vital for our work
Carol Court, Ability Dogs 4 Young People CEO says,
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome the community to our new shop. The support we receive through our charity shops is vital in funding our work with disabled young people on the Isle of Wight.
“Without the generous support of the Island community, we would not be able to achieve the amazing success stories that continue to build our positive reputation.
“We hope the new and improved location of our Newport shop will attract even more visitors and supporters.”
Where the money goes
Funds raised in the Charity’s shops go directly towards resourcing and training the expanding Ability Dog team, enabling them to fulfil the ever-growing waiting list.
There is a concerning increase in the number of young, disabled people on the Isle of Wight who are facing isolation and increasing challenges in living with their disability.
Specially trained assistance dogs
The Charity dedicates itself to supporting these young people and their families by providing specially trained assistance dogs. The Ability Dogs support those with a range of physical and mental disabilities and have an amazing track record of widening recipients’ opportunities, allowing access to education and work with increasing confidence, gaining greater independence.
Opening hours
The shop will be open six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, providing ample opportunity for shoppers to explore and find great deals while supporting a worthy cause.
Every purchase and donation directly contributes to training the Ability Dogs, who play a crucial role in transforming the lives of disabled young people and their families.
Other charity shops
The Crocker Street Charity Shop in Newport joins two other Shanklin based Ability Dogs 4 Young People Charity Shops in providing increasing opportunities for the community to actively support the Charity in its life changing work on the Island.
