Thanks to Roger Regular for sending through this brief review of the new album by The Chancers.
You can hear them play live on Saturday at 5.15pm on the bandstand as part of Island Day and there’ll be selling copies of their CD no doubt. Ed
It’s taken approx three years to finish the first album, due to Rick’s relentless support to all on the Island but the “Wight” album has certainly been worth the wait.
It consists of many of The Chancers and audiences favourite songs.
The Wight album was recorded from our Wightfest 2009 Festival in August.
As many will know, there are many well known Island musicians playing on it.
It is difficult to say which one is my favourite, as all are strong
contenders, but the one Kev (the other Wightfest organiser) and I do play
over and over, is his solo performance of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song.
To hear this live at the event and the crowd’s total silence during this
magical moment will stay with us for a very long time.
Thank you guys for helping to make Aug 22nd one of our most treasured memorable days.
Please contact Riccardo Stanbridge on Facebook or The Chancers and buy this
excellent CD.
