Earlier in the month we reported on proposed changes to the Isle of Wight Cabinet.
Council leader, David Pugh, has today made a delegated decision to reduce the Cabinet members with responsibilities to just six (Cllrs Pugh, Brown, Cousins, Mazillius, Giles and Abraham) and appoint one Cabinet Secretary (Cllr Hunter Henderson). Responsibilities for some cabinet members have also been amended.
Cllr Lumley voiced concerns at last week’s annual meeting, over the removal for the decision to be called-in by councillors for scrutiny.
He questioned the democracy of the leader choosing his cabinet (who tend to make most of the council’s decisions), as well as removing the ability for his decision to be scrutinised.
