The NHS Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (IOW CCG) has welcomed two new Lay Advisors, Martyn Davies and Laurence Taylor, who have been appointed to its Governing Body.
These part-time roles report to John Rivers, the Isle of Wight CCG Chair and are based at the CCG’s headquarters in Newport. Mr Davies replaces Frederick Psyk who has completed his three-year term.
In his role of Governing Body Lay Advisor, Mr Davies will chair the Audit and Remuneration Committees and act as the Deputy Chair of the CCG. Mr Davies will oversee key elements of governance including audit, remuneration and managing conflicts of interest.
Mr Davies said,
“As a beneficiary of some excellent health care on the Island, I’m excited by the prospect of helping further improve what is available in our community. With nearly twenty years of experience in financial management and governance in Education, I hope to make a positive contribution to governance.”
Laurence Taylor is taking up a newly-created additional Governing Body Lay Advisor role which has primarily been created to chair the CCG Primary Care Committee. This is a new committee to provide assurance that high quality, value-for-money primary health care services are being commissioned for the local population.
As a former senior solicitor with the Treasury Solicitor’s Department, Mr Taylor commented:
“I’m excited at the opportunity to work with the CCG and hope that I can use my experience of advising central government departments on contracts to help deliver important primary healthcare services to Islanders.”
