Thanks to Steve for sending through details of this new reading group. In his own words. Ed
A new book club/reading group is planned in Shanklin.
Eclectica is open to all and as the name suggests encourages a mixed group with a range of reading tastes.
The only qualification to join is that you enjoy a good read (and sometimes a bad one), are open to try different genres and enjoy discussing what you’ve read in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, maybe over a glass or two.
Members choose the reading list
Unlike many other groups there is no common theme nor is there a reading list to work through. Instead, book selections are proposed and chosen by members.
They could be personal favourites, classics you felt you should have read or the latest best-seller. Books are chosen as far in advance as possible to allow members time to source the material.
Month meetings
Meetings take place once a month and members are encouraged to host meetings although this is not possible for everyone and is by no means essential as a default venue is available. For practical reasons numbers must be limited so it’s first come, first served.
