Sainsbury’s Newport Isle of Wight are celebrating after raising £5,405 for Comic Relief.
Colleagues took part in a number of fundraising events during the week leading up to Red Nose Day, which took place on Friday 13th March.
Activities included our Fresh Foods Manager Dave Bradley having all his hair shaved off with customers joining in and watching the Big Shave!
The store also had a spend a penny toilet at the front of the store, decorated in Red Nose Day Merchandise, which brought in many donations and a real hit with the kids, trying to throw in their pennies.
Ability Dogs for Young People also joined us for the day on Friday 13th – to help fundraise in our foyer. Ability for Dogs on the Isle of Wight have been very fortunate to have been supported by Red Nose Day for the last two years.
Paul Dyer Store Manager, said:
“Our colleagues always go the extra mile for Red Nose Day, and this year was no exception. I’d like to thank all of our customers who donated or took part in the activities we held in store. It was a record year for Sainsbury’s and it’s brilliant to know we contributed to the impressive figure donated from Sainsbury’s to Comic Relief.”
On Red Nose Day, Sainsbury’s announced it had raised £11.5 million for the charity with additional funds yet to be collected.
