Many thanks to Roger Regular for his review of Nicole Fermie’s gig on Friday night. Ed

Nicole Fermie and Vanzatti Play Wight Rock BarWe had a treat early this month.

Nicole Fermie who performs as a three piece, played to the appreciative crowd at the Wightrock Bar in Ryde.

Nicole’s set had it all; coming from an eclectic multi-cultural heritage, definitely brings many styles and experiences, which works really well.

She sang with a lovely warm melodic rocky sound and played some magic with her red strat in a unique style.

Nicole is supported by two very talented muso’s on drum and bass.

Her demo CD (Taxi 2008) has a beautiful acoustic/blues-feel quality which is well worth purchasing and her new CD is out very soon, so hope to get that as well.

If you look carefully, you might catch a glimpse of Nicole as a backing vocalist with Goldfrapp on occasions.

Supporting Nicole was Vanzatti, playing a well rehearsed set.

Vanzatti get better each time of seeing them, with the distinctive voice of Jamie and his acoustic guitar work, backed up with melodic lyrics and grungy guitar work of his band members, who are excellent musicians.

Although Vanzatti have been together for less than a year, they are getting good support and good reviews, so if you see them in a town near you, take a trip out and support them. I don’t know if their first album has been released yet but I will be getting it.
