If you follow national politics, you might’ve heard that Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), has been banned from attending this autumn’s Conservative Conference. The ban came after he accepted invitations to speak at several fringe events.
There’ll be no such difficulties at Shanklin Theatre on the Isle of Wight this autumn though, where UKIP fans may be heading for ‘An Audience with Nigel Farage‘.
Record number of UKIP candidates
Isle of Wight UKIP managed to field a whopping 28 candidates in the local council elections in May, with two candidates winning seats on the Isle of Wight council. Cllr Daryl Pitcher now represents Wootton and Cllr Graham Perks is the ward councillor for Ventnor East.
General Election candidate
OnTheWight reader Iain McKie was also announced last week as the IW UKIP candidate for the 2015 General Election.
There certainly seemed to be a lot of interest for UKIP back in May, so Shanklin Theatre could be bursting at the seams come October.
“It was this big!”
Judging by the picture above, we reckon Nige might want to partake in a bit of fishing when on the Island ;-)
