The second No Man is an Island exhibition opened on Saturday in the Learning Curve Gallery, Quay Arts.
It followed a weekend workshop with Jeanette Appleton for parents and carers from the Island branch of the National Autistic Society.
Jeanette has an amazing exhibition in the Michael West Gallery, called Sow:Sew, and the Learning Curve work is a response to this and to the recent ‘Inside Outside Artists Moving On‘ exhibition from the Rope Store Gallery.
Called Textile and Landscape, it takes a playful look at what we might understand by landscape – it all depends on your view point!
Small things may loom large and large things look far away.
On the opening day, children helped her to develop ideas for a ‘seed bed’ and rain machine using recycled plastic bottles, conkers and an old bead curtain made from seeds!
The exhibition will grow over the weeks and there will be an open evening on Thursday 19th November to which all are most welcome.
Please do write something in the comments book; it will be greatly appreciated by all those who contributed to the exhibition!
No Man is an Island artist Melanie Swan will be in the Learning Curve on Saturday afternoons.
