Here’s one peculiar story that appears to be getting picked up from the newswires today.
A 35 year old dentist from London, who last month signed a deal with SonyBMG for £1million to record his debut album of modern songs performed in an operatic stylee, has been told by Prince (well, probably his lawyers) that he cannot include his rendition of Purple Rain on his debut album.
The former dentist, Andrew Bain will be appearing at Bestival in September, which coincidentally is when his debt album is due for release.
The deal with Sony was sealed when he sent in his version of the Prince song, Purple Rain.
“Without Purple Rain I wouldn’t be where I am today,” a spokesman for the dentist said.
