Sandown Library has just become part of a nationwide project called My Voice.
My Voice gives children aged between 11 and 19 the opportunity to get involved in their community, and create a space within their library filled with the books they want to read in an environment they help to design.
Funding for events
In addition to this they’ll be provided with funding to put on events in the library for their friends and peers, for example, music gigs, open mic nights, art exhibitions etc all of which will gain them accreditation for volunteering, experience of event planning and allow them to meet other creative individuals.
The first meeting about My Voice at Sandown Library is scheduled for this Saturday (19th) at 2.30pm and is for any kids who are interested to come a long and find out more about it, there’s also a Facebook page called My Voice Sandown that they can check out.
