Figures published by the Office for National Statistics show that 1,245 people in the Isle of Wight area were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) during June 2016.
The figures show a drop of 105 since May 2016, when there were 1,350 JSA claimants, and a rise of 25 from June 2015 (1,220).
Of those claiming in June 2016, 855 were male and 390 female.
That means 1.5% of the resident population of area aged 16-64 is claiming JSA – 0.5% more than the rest of the South East (1%), and 0.3% above the whole of the UK (1.8).
