Nurse and young daughters face financial hardship following partner’s death from bowel cancer

Lewis Crouch has started a GoFundMe fundraiser following the death of his brother-in-law, Reece Payne, who recently passed away.

Reece battled with bowel cancer valiantly since his diagnosis in December 2018. He leaves behind his partner Carlie and their two young daughters, Olivia, aged four, and Amelia, aged two.

Lewis shares,

“Some of you will already be aware that my sister Carlie’s partner, Reece, recently lost his hard fought battle with cancer.

“To say we have all been devastated by this is an understatement.”

A family’s challenge
Reece was not only a beloved family member, but also an outgoing, fun-loving person who enjoyed lively discussions about rugby, bikes, and cars.

Many knew of his struggle with bowel cancer, witnessing the resilience and strength he displayed throughout.

Lewis reflects,

“It was an absolute privilege to call him my brother-in-law and to see how happy he made my sister and nieces.”

Financial strains and a call for help
The death of Reece has not only left an emotional void, but has also placed significant financial pressure on Carlie and her daughters.

Carlie, a nurse by profession, had to take extensive time off work to care for Reece and manage the household during his illness.

Lewis explains,

“Not only has this left a huge gaping hole in the family, but as you can imagine, it also puts financial pressures on Carlie and the girls.”

Alleviate some of the financial burdens
Lewis hopes the fundraiser will alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by the family, allowing them to grieve without the added stress of financial insecurity.

He says,

“If there is one last thing I can do for Reece it’s to ensure that his family are supported and they can grieve without the worry of keeping up with mortgage payments, bills, and costs of living.”

Show your support
Lewis ends with a heartfelt appeal,

“If you can please make a donation and help in anyway, it would go a long way to supporting Carlie, Olivia and Amelia through such a tough time. Thank you for taking the time to read this.”
