Thanks to Lois for sending in details of this tricky situation she happened upon yesterday. Ed
An articulated lorry managed to get itself stuck on a metal bollard when it attempted to turn a tight corner outside Bridge House (Ferry Road) at East Cowes yesterday afternoon.
Despite signage to the contrary, the HGV took the wrong lane to turn right and managed somehow to get one of the metal bollards, set in the pavement to protect pedestrians and Bridge House, caught up between the twin rear wheels of the trailer.
With the street blocked, the Police were forced to close the road and direct traffic coming from the floating bridge the wrong way up Ferry Road.
Luckily for the driver, nearby builders were able to remove the post with their pneumatic drill and allow the lorry to manoeuvre out of its predicament.
