Today, Saturday 28th September 2013, we’re marking the eight year anniversary of the site.
Started with a bang
Back in 2005 the site was created under the name VentnorBlog, with our first post documenting the detonation of a unexploded bomb/mine in Ventnor Haven.
Our coverage was picked up by the BBC and our coverage of what happens on the Island was away.
Growth
We had no idea when we started that it was going to be something we’d still be doing eight years later or that it would become such a significant part of our lives.
It’s allowed us to meet some many interesting people, many truly fascinating and experience events we might never have attended.
Being part of the ‘Hyperlocal’ community that stretches across the UK has brought us in contact with people doing the same the country over, people that we would never have met.
Thank you!
Our thanks go out to tens of thousands of loyal readers who have helped make OnTheWight the vibrant community it’s become since that first post on 28th September 2005.
