From one Island to another — the sounds of Ibiza could be coming to the Isle of Wight, but with an orchestral twist.
Applying for a licence to the Isle of Wight Council, Orchestral Ibiza is hoping to host an outdoor festival in August for up to 4,999 people at Smallbrook Stadium in Ashey.
Bank holiday weekend
The total number of tickets proposed to the event is lower than the 6,000 maximum capacity for the Smallbrook field, in Ashey.
With provisional dates given as the 28th and 29th of August, subject to change depending on the Covid situation, the company is looking to provide an amplified live orchestra playing chilled Ibiza classics with DJs performing as well.
A ‘big thank you’ event for NHS and key workers
The first day is open for the public, but in documents submitted to the council the company say the Sunday would have various tribute acts and be a ‘big thank you’ event for NHS and key workers, in conjunction with Isle of Wight Radio.
The licence is asking for permission to put on the event from 3pm to 11pm, with late night refreshment, the supply of alcohol and dance performance.
An external bar, outside the main arena, would serve draft beer, wine, spirits and soft drink until 11.30pm.
“An evening packed with nostalgia”
On its Website, Orchestral Ibiza say it would be an evening packed with nostalgia and a full live orchestral performance of the biggest Ibiza anthems of all time.
It says other vendors on the day will have street food, a gin bar and dessert parlour.
A map of the event provided to the council show there would also be a kids play area.
Could take place without Covid restrictions
The festival could take place without any Covid restrictions, should the government continue its roadmap and lift the final measures on 19th July.
The date of the final lifting of restrictions had been pushed back by four weeks with the increase of the Delta Covid variant and to allow more of the adult population to be vaccinated.
The licence is open for consultation and can be viewed on the council’s Website (21/00571/LAPNEW). Comments will be accepted until 22nd July.
