Last week the Queensgate Foundation Primary school’s Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) joined local business and crafters at the East Cowes Christmas Market, with the aim to raise funds for their school as well as provide fun activities for local children.
The event raised over £200 for the school, meaning local children will be benefiting directly from the money raised.
Praise for PTFA
The presence of the PTFA was greatly appreciated by many families, one saying,
“Well done to the PTFA! My lot loved it and thanks for the amazing prizes and activities.”
This was the first of many events the PTFA hope to do, reaching out from beyond the school gates and into the community.
Fernandez: Allows us to reach out beyond the school gates to the wider community
Interim chair, Ekine Fernandez said,
“I am delighted Friday’s event was so successful, and whilst we are only a small team, I look forward to attending many more like this.
“This won’t only help us raise funds for our school, but also allow us to reach out beyond the school gates to the wider community.”
Join the PTFA team
The success of this event has led the PTFA team to reach out to ask more parents, carers and people interested in supporting the school to join them.
People can give as little or as much as they’d like, whether that’s to support one particular event a year or becoming part of the committee.
Fundraising benefits the children
All funds raised by the PTFA go directly back into Queensgate Foundation Primary. Over recent years they have brought things such as new picnic benches, a shed for Forest School Equipment, Waterproofs and games for breakfast club as well as much more.
The PTFA’s next project is to help develop and support the creation of an outdoor classroom and sensory gardens.

Supporters
Finally, a massive thank you to Cowes Rotary Club for providing Gingerbread biscuits and icing and to Vectis Storage for the sponsorship and creation of our new banners.
Thank you for your support!
