Thanks to Linda for this update from yesterday’s Peace Feast. Ed
The sun shone for International Peace Day and the event at the Unitarian Hall in Newport was buzzing with people.
After a welcoming drink, the event started off with a one minute silence, which was followed by an open session for people to read out poems, prayers and philosophical pieces on the subject of ‘peace’.
Be peaceful in everything
The unifying message from all was, start with your own personal peace. Be peaceful in everything.
A mixed buffet followed and some lively discussions, whilst others quietly decorated peace flags.
Donations raised came to approx. £20 and will be shared between the Red Cross and Rob da Bank’s youth music club.
Thanks to all who attended and gave their time, and good will to the event.
Please keep the 21st September marked in your diary for next years ‘International Peace Day’ event.
