VB reader Iona Jelf got in touch with us recently asking if we could help promote a petition she’s started in relation to the The Energy Security and Green Economy Bill. We were happy to oblige. Ed
The Energy Security and Green Economy Bill will be presented to parliament early next year, but in its present form does little to improve fuel poverty; the ongoing financial struggle that many of us face heating our homes, feeding our families and meeting our transport needs, etc.
National energy insecurity drives fuel prices and the cost of everything else, ever higher, and we keep on paying more and more.
This Bill could be improved to include legislation for a move towards a renewable energy based economy, based on sustainable energy sources for the future that will include energy efficiency measures and keep prices stable.
As Island residents and potential voters, we do have a voice.
I urge you to sign this petition so that we can take that voice to parliament.
