Pick Of The VB Week

Pick Of The VB WeekWhat a week it has been!

Anyone who follows the Blog, will know that the Planning Committee, after debating the issue at length on Tuesday evening in the council chamber (thanks again to Simon for his excellent live reporting), made the decision to refuse planning permission for the Mill Bay Development.

As this will clearly set the precedent now, we can be assured that anything of similar mass, scale and height will be refused along the seafront. The developers have told the media that they plan to appeal, so natch, we’ll keep you informed of anything we hear.

Amongst all the news about the above, did you catch the podcast with one of the fell runners? What an amazing feat they perform, thank goodness the weather was as good as it was that weekend and as wet and slippery as this.

At the end of the week, VB celebrated its two year anniversary. Yes, 1,473 posts and 1,466 comments on the blog alone. We’ve always said that there is so much going on around the Island, and I guess this is testament to it. The discussion forum has recently gained a surge of new contributors, with some lively discussion taking place. If you have something you want to discuss, come and join in, it doesn’t just have to be about Ventnor!

We’ve got loads more events being added to the diary over the next few days, so do check back and keep an eye on what’s coming up over the next few months. [image courtesy of Dave Pilbrow]
