There was a real mixture of things going on last week with lots of Bestival news still to report (much to the annoyance of one reader).
Bestival does for many people, mark the end of the summer, so perhaps it’s time to pick up a new skill to keep you busy during the dark winter nights?
If you fancy learning something new, why not take a look at the Neighbourhood Learning Courses. Although the choice is not as extensive as usual, there are a selection of interesting courses, with most of them costing approximately £2 per session.
The schools shake up meeting on Wednesday, organised by the teachers unions, attracted over 300 members of the public. Sadly IW councillors who were invited to attend, chose not to. From what we hear, the level of opposition to the proposed scheme to move Year Nine pupils to middle school and close at least one High School appears to be bypassing the councillors. We look forward to hearing the outcome of a council meeting held on Friday to discuss the proposal further.
Mike Osborne, one of our bestival ticket competition winners shared his experience of Bestival with us. We’ve more reviews to come, but if you were at the best festival fo the year and would like to share your adventures with us, just send your review to ventnorblog(at)gmail(dot)com.
And finally, the quote of year, from the mouths of the Beastie Boys
“There’s a reason it’s called Bestival.” They went on to say that the Bestival is what they had hoped their tour would be like and they’d love to be asked back again.
What an accolade for Rob Da Bank and the team! If you missed the Channel 4 footage of Bestival over the weekend, keep an eye out for it on services such as TV-Links. The direction and editing were superb and I imagine made Rob, Josie, John and Ziggy very proud indeed!
