Treehouses, safari lodges and tiny homes — all part of plans unveiled for an ‘eco-friendly retreat’ near Yarmouth.
Plans have been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council for ‘The Woodlands’, next to Lucketts Farm at Lee Copse — a glamping proposal from Alan Short and Simon Hirst of Acorn Properties IOW.
The plans were first revealed in May 2021 after residents were concerned about the number of trees being felled at the site.
Their aim is to open the resort, on the main road to Yarmouth, in Spring 2023.
They have owned the land for the last three years, and according to the woodlands’ Website, restored and maintained the agricultural land and woodland.
Included in the plans for the tourism and leisure project are:
- spa/treatment rooms and sauna pods;
- a staff welfare barn;
- 15 treehouses;
- eight safari lodges;
- eight tiny homes;
- a restaurant;
- a cafe;
- bus stop improvements and associated infrastructure.
The resort’s Website said it would be an all-encompassing holiday destination with unique accommodation, activities, classes, wedding venue and learning for young and old.
It is thought the proposals would create 50 full-time and 25 part-time employees.
