Newport is celebrating 70 years of Her Majesty the Queen’s reign with a whole town event including music performances by Platform One Students on a stage in St James’s Square from 11.30am until 6pm on Saturday 4th June.
The line up includes some fabulous tribute acts as well as original music from the very talented students from the Island based music college. Platform One is a boutique college based on the Isle of Wight, specialised in high quality education for the creative industries.

David Pontin director of Platform One Music College said,

“We have programmed a diverse range of music to appeal to all.
“We are always so proud of our students.’
Family activities and music
The event is free for all to attend and will be part of a series of activities in Newport town centre which aims to bring joy to the community with a celebratory event for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Family activities and music will be taking place throughout Newport together with market stalls and the day will finish with the Grand Parade from Victoria Recreation Ground at 3pm making its way down to Newport Quay.
The event is managed by Shaping Newport, and supported by Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council, Market Days CIC, Newport Business Association, Isle of Wight Council, Newport High Street Heritage Action Zone, Platform One and the National Lottery Community Fund.
