Police are appealing for three possible witnesses to come forward after an assault was reported near East Cowes.

It’s alleged a 15-year-old boy from the Island as punched several times while he was with friends at a bus stop on Whippingham Road near the junction with Campfield Road.

The boy has told police that a red car stopped near the bus stop before one of the passengers, a man, left the vehicle and assaulted him at around 2.30pm on Sunday, March 25, 2012.

The boy received face and neck bruising.

Description of suspect
The suspect was described as:

> White
> Aged in his 40s
> Light brown receding hair
> Wearing a blue-knitted jumper and grey suit trousers

Investigating officer PC Rob Buckett said: “Initial enquiries suggest there were a number of witnesses who have not contacted the police yet. We believe a man and a woman in another car stopped at the scene out of concern for what they saw happening. It’s also reported the driver of a delivery van stopped nearby at the time. I’m appealing for these people to speak with the police.”
