This in from police, in their own words. Ed
We are growing increasingly concerned for missing 71 year old Michael Davies from Wales.
Michael was on holiday with his wife, visiting the island as part of a coach trip, but went missing from his Sandown hotel shorty before midnight on Tuesday, May 26th.
CCTV captured Michael walking along Avenue Road in Sandown at about 1.00am in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Searches in the Sandown area
Officers are following up a number of enquiries, both on the Island and in Mr Davies home town of Blaina in Wales. WightSAR volunteers, Marine Unit officers and the NPAS have been assisting police with the search in and around the Sandown area.
Hampshire Police are asking members of the public on the island to check gardens, sheds and outbuildings in case Michael has taken refuge in there and fallen asleep, or may even have become unwell or unable to call out for help.
Searching further afield
We are sharing our appeal with mainland ports, ferry and transport terminals, particularly in the Lymington, Portsmouth and Southampton area, in case Michael has got confused and tried to make his way home.
He was last seen wearing jeans, a blue T-shirt, a blue ‘Reebok’ jumper and a baseball cap.
If you know where Michael is, or have seen a man fitting his description please call Isle of Wight Investigation team on 101, in an emergency please call 999.
