The family of missing man Michael Davies are making a personal appeal for him to make contact after his disappearance on the Isle of Wight.
Michael, aged 71, from Blaina in Wales was on holiday with his wife, visiting the island as part of a coach trip.
He went missing from a hotel in Sandown on the evening of Tuesday, May 26, 2015 and was seen on CCTV walking along Avenue Road, Sandown at around 1am on the morning of Wednesday, May 27, 2015.
Michael, known as Mike to his family, was last seen wearing jeans, a blue T-shirt, a blue ‘Reebok’ jumper and a baseball cap.
Two of Mike’s grand-daughters, Ellinor Trigg, aged 24, and Kelly Davies, aged 31, in statement said:
“We’d like to say to Granch that everyone is thinking about you, we all miss you and want you to come home.
“We feel like we’re in limbo right now, we can’t do anything until we know where you’ve gone. Please get in contact to let us know you’re alright.
“Our appeal to anyone who sees him is to introduce yourself gently to him. He may be confused and scared about why people are looking for him. Please reassure him that his family are looking for him, and to contact us through the police as soon as possible.
“Talk to Mike about his many interests and hobbies. He has a passion for old British motorbikes, pocket watches, cycling in Wales, old coin collections, and making ginger beer. He likes to watch the TV comedy programmes ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and ‘Rab C Nesbitt.
“We’d like to thank everyone we met while on the Isle of Wight. They were fantastic and could not have done any more to help us when Mike was reported missing.”
Searches continue
Searches on the Island using police dogs and specialist officers are planned to continue alongside other enquiries including checks of CCTV footage.
There is no evidence at this time to suggest Mr Davies has been the victim of a crime.
Police are continuing to ask members of the public on the Island to check gardens, sheds and outbuildings in case Mike has taken refuge in there and fallen asleep, or may even have become unwell or unable to call out for help.
We have been sharing our appeals with mainland ports, ferry and transport terminals, particularly in the Lymington, Portsmouth and Southampton area, in case Michael has become confused and tried to make his way home to Wales.
