The Isle of Wight Domestic Abuse Forum have organised a Pop-up Art gallery, which will feature art work and poetry by those who have been affected by domestic abuse.
Sadly, domestic abuse is still a big issue on the Island. The focus of the event is to raise awareness of where victims can go for support, as well as enjoying the beautiful art that is on display.
The exhibition includes work by pupils from Carisbrooke College and Sandown Bay Academy and takes place from tomorrow (Tuesday 27th November) until Friday 7th December.
‘16 Days of Action’
It coincides with the international campaign that focuses on ending violence against women and girls, called ‘16 Days of Action’.
There will also be displays from a number of different agencies and organisations who work with victims and families, to show support locally.
Fleur Gardiner, domestic abuse co-ordinator at the Isle of Wight Council, said, “The art work is of a very high standard and we hope that people, whether they have been affected by domestic abuse or not, will take a few minutes out of their day to visit the exhibition and find out a little more about the issues facing so many people on the Island – and the support available.”
