Teen rockers 5 Degrees North have been shortlisted for the Indie/Rock/Alternative Act of the Year category at the Portsmouth Music Awards.
The announcement was made live on Express FM’s breakfast show this morning (Thursday), marking an exciting start to 2025 for the young band.
A public vote
The award will be determined by a public vote and judging panel, and the band is calling on Islanders to rally behind them by voting.

Musical acclaim
Their recent track “Carvel Lane” earned significant recognition in 2024, reaching number 14 in the South Coast Music Charts’ Songs of the Year and topping the weekly chart at number 1.
It also gained over 20,000 streams and received multiple radio plays, including BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio UK and USA.
Fourth single incoming
5 Degrees North are also gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated fourth single, Burn, on 1st February.
Fans can celebrate the release at a special stripped-back set at AAA Records in Newport on the same day at 3pm. The event is free to attend.

Live performance
For those looking to see the band live, they’ll also be performing at the Kashmir Fringe Festival at Quay Arts on 8th February at 6.45pm.
