Practical ways you can help the Isle of Wight’s homeless this winter

Laura from Two Saints – an organisation works with rough sleepers, the homeless and those experiencing a mental health crisis – shares information about how Islanders can help this winter. Ed

As winter approaches we know it’s the most difficult time for rough sleepers, so we are always looking for ways the community can help.

Our outreach team have many connections for the supply of free food, but there are other ways we need help.

How you can help
Below are some of the ways you can help:

  • Accommodation – bedsits, rooms to rent, flats, caravans….anything that might be suitable for one person living alone
  • New tents and sleeping bags
  • £5 gift vouchers for local places that serve hot food
  • Community events that Two Saints could come along to and promote the work the outreach team do
  • Flasks
  • Good quality hats, scarves, gloves and socks
  • Thermal clothing

Streelink
If you see someone sleeping rough and are concerned about them, the best way to let Two Saints know is to go to the Streetlink Website and send an alert. It goes directly to them and they can act quickly to help.
