Prepare for short-term road closures as cat’s eyes replacement begins

Work is underway to ensure road studs – or ‘cat’s eyes’ as they are more commonly known – are in good working order as the longer nights draw in.

Each year, Island Roads carries out a comprehensive, Island-wide survey of cat’s eyes, identifying any in need of replacement.

Overnight works
Following this survey, planning for a programme of replacement work in the coming weeks is in progress. Workers will perform most of the necessary tasks at night to reduce disruption. However, short-duration road closures are necessary to allow for the swift and safe completion of the work.

Signed diversions will be in place during these road closures.

IR: Thank residents in advance for their co-operation and understanding
An Island Roads spokesperson said,

“We are sure residents will understand the need for these short-duration road closures but we would like to thank residents in advance for their co-operation and understanding if their journey is affected.

“We do hope that by working predominantly at night we will be minimising inconvenience for residents.”
