Thanks to Priory School in Shanklin for sending through their GCSE results. Ed
In the first full year of the new management at Priory School, we are especially proud of our Year 11 GCSE students, some of whom will stay on to open our 6th Form in September, as they have achieved 100% pass rate in this year’s GCSEs, and 93% have achieved the benchmark 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C in their time at Priory School.
- 28 pupils from ages 14 to 16 years sat 131 GCSEs in 2010 with a 100% pass rate
- 93% of Year 11 leavers had A*-C in 5 subjects or more over their time at Priory School
- 87% of Year 11 GCSE passes in core subjects English, Maths, Sciences, ICT at A*-C
- 80% of all GCSE passes were at A*-C
- 100% of Year 11 leave with 5 or more GCSEs; 86% with 9 GCSEs or more
(The above were reorganised for clarity – Ed)
There are some exceptional personal results listed, but it is the all-round performance of Year 11, Year 10 & Year 9 students, 28 of whom sat 131 GCSEs this summer, and who passed over 80% of all GCSE subjects at A*-C, which we feel vindicates our emphasis on small classes, and individual attention to each pupil.
Of those 131 GCSEs, 83 were in the core subjects of English, Maths, Sciences (including Biology, Chemistry & Physics), & ICT, showing again how Priory School asks of all its pupils that they tackle the ‘tough’ subjects that will equip them for further education or training. A*-C pass rate in these core subjects for the mixed ability Year 11 was 87%; and for the younger Years 10 & 9, where pupils are encouraged to sit
exams early if appropriate, was an astonishing 100% for the second year running
In addition to the core subjects, GCSEs were taken in History (80% A*-C), French (75% A*-C with the new IGCSE), Art & Design, Photography & Graphic Design (100% A-C), Geography, Religious Studies, Business Studies and new for this year Performing Arts (75% A*-C). This shows the quality of teaching throughout the curriculum.
