Yesterday’s news that the Government plans to close Camp Hill Prison dealt a massive blow to at least 80 prison officers and 200 staff.
However, they are not the only workers who will be affected.
The Isle of Wight NHS provide services to the hundreds at the prison and it’s unclear at the moment what impact this may have on nurses, pharmacy staff and admin.
Karen Baker, Chief Executive at Isle of Wight NHS Trust said, “This is disappointing news for the Island and difficult news for those whose livelihood will be affected. We will need to assess the impact of this over the next few days and discuss with a range of partners including the commissioners of our services and Isle of Wight Council. The Trust provides services from three Prison Primary Health Care Centres located in Albany, Camphill and Parkhurst, and from the prison in-patient unit, located in Albany.”
