Earlier today (Monday), OnTheWight ran a story about four lads from Ryde who spent most of Saturday baking 1,000 fairy cakes.
By Monday morning, Garry Sexton, his brother, George and friends, Jordan Harper and Tom Smith had managed to get rid of 500 of the cakes, but were keen to see that the remainder went to good homes.
Helping the homeless
Not long after publishing our story Trevor Blaney from the Pop-up Soup Kitchen got in touch and we were able to connect him with the lads.
Trevor popped over to Garry’s this morning and not only picked up the 500 remaining cakes, but also secured some future help with the soup kitchen from Garry and his fellow chefs.
Three cheers
Well done to Garry, George, Jordan and Tom for offering to use their connections to help the Soup Kitchen with future endeavours and a big well done to Trevor for his continued support for the Isle of Wight’s homeless.
