Thanks to George for this latest news from Cowes RNLI. In his own words. Ed
Customers of a Newport public house are among the latest people to contribute towards Cowes RNLI’s new station appeal.
A total of £93.18p was raised from a collection and a raffle at the Newport Ale House, in Holyrood Street.
“We selected two good causes to benefit from the pub’s recent charity week,” said licensee, Debbie Ridett. “And as the week coincided with Trafalgar Day it seemed appropriate that a charity connected to the sea should be one of them.”
Receiving the money, Cowes station’s Lifeboat Operations Manager, Mark Southwell, said, “It is particularly pleasing that a Newport business is helping with our appeal. Because our lifeboat is expected to respond to emergencies up the River Medina, as well as the Solent, Newport is very much part of our catchment area.”
