Update: See later entry for change to the lineup.
This month’s funny men performing at the Quay Arts Comedy Club include Barry Castagnola and Patrick Monahan plus one surprise act!
Barry Castagnola has firmly established himself as an accomplished comic performer.
He has been performing stand-up in the UK and internationally for over six years since blagging his way onto the stage at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. His easy-going (yet very physical) style, mixes personal anecdotes with some sharp topical and political comment, and enthuses audiences at most of the major comedy clubs in the UK.
As well as being a popular compere, Barry regularly headlines gigs around the country. He has performed in New York, Ireland, The Melbourne Comedy Festival, Glastonbury and The Reading Festival. TV stand up includes The Stand Up Show (BBC1) and Net.Comedy (Carlton).
Patrick Monahan started off on the glamorous Irish/Iranian/Geordie stand-up circuit where he developed his warm, friendly, lively story telling style.
He is also a comedy festival regular and has performed his solo shows in cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester and Manchester and also at most major venues throughout the UK.
Monahan not only engages the audience with charming banter about local affairs and universal issues, but also combines animated story telling style that draws on his own experiences of growing up in Teesside, (North East of England) of Irish and Iranian parentage! A comedian with truly global appeal or as the Daily Telegraph puts it, “a one man ethnic melting pot, a star in the making”
